July 2, 2025

We’re excited to be featured in the Chicago Sun-Times for our work expanding access to capital for small business owners across Chicago.

The article spotlights Mona’s partnership with Kiva and the Polsky Center, which has supported 23 incredible entrepreneurs secure over $200,000 in zero-interest loans to grow and scale their missions.

  • Lisa Marsh of Ms. P's Gluten Free is making healthy, gluten-free snacks and treats accessible and used her loan to upgrade her website, expand to Shopify, and boost marketing so more people can enjoy her granola.

  • Ecodunia, founded by Cera Muchiri, is bringing artisan-made bags and jewelry from Kenya to Chicago — and using the funds to empower a collective of women jewelers back home.

  • At ILAVA: IT CAN BE DONE, co-owner Rahel Mwitula Williams turned her loan into production growth, new equipment, and the launch of MITC Studio in Kenwood, blending fashion with social impact.
